Being the 6th version of the GT-2000 series, a rebrand of previous iconic model GT-2170, Asics GT-2000 has gone through another 6 iterations of continuous improvement in providing stable support and comfort for mild to moderate overpronators as well as some neutral runners.
Upper of Asics GT-2000 6
GT-2000 6 has upgraded its upper from previous version with a new one-piece mesh of seamless construction, resulting in higher breathability and more flexible movement during the run.
Forefoot of GT-2000 6 has been widened as compared with previous versions, offering a better accommodation with less bunion and irritation. However, some user reviews indicate that the toe box is a little low so it may be necessary to buy one more half size up for some runners.
The medial logo has been removed in GT-2000 6, resulting in a plain outlook with increased breathing holes for ventilation. No reflective material for safety purpose is found on the shoe.
The external heel counter in previous version has been removed in this version, resulting in a sleeker outlook with reduced heel stability but better fit and improved comfort on the ride.
ComforDry Sockliner is detachable for cleaning, providing extra comfort and cushioning, as well as exceptional moisture management and breathability.
Midsole of Asics GT-2000 6
A full-length Flytefoam is used in midsole offers exceptional bounce back and responsiveness in toe-off giving a smooth transition of the gait cycle.
Gel cushioning is used in both rearfoot and forefoot in GT-2000, which attenuate the shock to your body during landing and toe-off. The Gel cushioning in rearfoot is visible while that for forefoot is not visible.
DuoMax Support System uses a dual-density foam system positioned in offering enhanced support and stability.
Impact Guidance System (IGS) delivers a smooth and balanced heel to toe transition.

Asics High Abrasion Rubber (AHAR) is used in the heel offering extra durability while a softer blown rubber in the forefoot providing better response for the heel to toe cycle.
GT-2000 6 stays in the all round model of the Asics running shoes for mild and moderate overpronators as well as for some neutral runners. A number of improved features has been incorporated in this version, especially in the upper of the shoe:
A new one-piece mesh of seamless construction used in upper to improve breathability and comfort, with the medial logo and external heel collar removed, give this version a sleeker design with more breathable and heel comfort.
Forefoot is widened provides accommodation for better comfort and less irritation. However, the toe box is a little low for some users, should try and feel if one more half size up is needed.
The overall re-design and enhancement results in a reduction of weight by 4.5% as compared with previous version.
All in all, Asics GT-2000 6 is a quality stability shoe with balanced cushioning and responsiveness offering superb support without compromising durability. At a price US$40 less and weight lighter than the top tier Asics stability shoe Gel-Kayano 25, I would recommend GT-2000 6 to runners looking for a reasonable priced stability shoe with well-balanced cushioning for daily training and long distance race.
